Since 1974, researchers and institutions working in the Materials Sciences and Engineering fields have been organizing, biannually, the Brazilian Congress of Engineering and Science of Materials – CBECiMat. This important and traditional event has the support of the three entities that gather main segments of the community involved: The Ceramic Brazilian Association (ABC), the Brazilian Association of Metallurgy, Materials and Mining (ABM) and the Brazilian Association of Polymers (ABPol).

In 2012, UFSC, UDESC, UNIVILLE and SOCIESC are organizing the 20th CBECIMAT, which will occur in the city of Joinville, in the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil in the period from November 4 to 8. All areas related to the Materials Science and Engineering may contribute to the content of most important Brazilian forum on Research and Development in the materials area. The event aims to bring science and technology to meet academic and industrial interests.

It is hoped that this meeting will contribute to promote a closer relationship between researchers, industry professionals and educators in Materials Science and Engineering area.
